Sexy is who you are

I talk with women everyday about their issues with their bodies.  At times it breaks my heart to hear how hard women can be on themselves.  I think it is important to remember that we were all created different for a reason.  We were also all blessed with some features or what we consider a blessing but an not with others, which always seems to be the feature we wish we had. Some women have long lean legs, others, myself included, have shorter, thicker legs. The trade off? I was blessed with strong fast legs....remember that Shakeria song?  Some were blessed with a larger fuller chest, some well, not so much. However, what I have was perfect capable of feeding my daughter and probably 10 other kids had  I needed to. (Sorry for the TMI) I also save a lot of money on bras and what not. As I am ok with having nothing so why bother.  AND I can wear any top I like. In exchange since I don't carry a lot of body-fat on my front half I have a nice flat stomach....well we will see what happens after baby number 2. I do however carry most of my body-fat on my back half.  Which means no matter how lean I get I will always have cellulite *Gasp*.  Yup and bless my daughter at 3 years old hers had not gone away but it is so darn cute.  It may mean that I have to watch what I eat a little more closely to keep it under control but it also means that I have a nice round tush  a la J Lo. I speak with clients all the time who what to be thinner and they have been blessed with this amazing voluptuous body.  If only they knew what I would do for some added curves on my body.  I have always wanted longer thicker hair as mine is Irish thin. However, no matter what climate I am in I can wash, condition, comb, air dry and not touch it again.  Thanks to a great stylist that knows my hair and my style I have a true wash and wear cut.  I can not imagine taking an hour to dry my hair.  Lastly I lived most of my life in South Florida where I chased the perfect tan with my perfectly freckled Irish skin that had no business being in the sun.  Over the years I have learned to accept my fairness and well thank God for Loreal's Sublime tanning lotion.

Take time for you

I hope you got some rest today. With all the hectiveness (yes I know it’s not a word) in life it is important to take some time for ourselves. This morning I was at a BeachBody conference until 3, after that I laid on the floor with McKalyn for 6 hours straight, well other than dinner. This is the first time I have done that in I don’t know how long. I loved every minute of it. So I didn’t get my workout in today, I didn’t get a single item on my to-do list done. I sat on my butt & enjoyed my daughter. Sometimes we get so caught up in life and forget to stop and lick the tulips as my husband says. Enjoy life!!!

Time management: Knowing what's important

As Fitness America Las Vegas gets closer I have found myself in a position that a lot of new competitors get into. I suppose it is from being off for a few years and wanting to really make an impression my 1st year back on stage. This is a milestone year for me. In my 2 years off I have gotten married and had a baby. This will also be my last year before I will be considered "classic". Pish! Who you calling classic! Anyways, I have made this a big deal for myself. So of course in doing so I have put a lot of my focus into being prepared physically and making sure I have all the "things" I need. But I forgot I also need to be prepared mentally. I have been sacrificing me and my family. Last night was the first time in 3 months that I can home from work and did nothing. I played with the baby then I laid down on the couch with my husband to watch a movie.

The saying "If you fail to plan than you plan to fail" rings true on so many levels. I was reading a article by friend and Life Coach. Karen Fagan where she suggests setting aside and hour a day called a Power Hour. During that hour she suggests you sit down in a comfortable environment and do what YOU need to do to make your day a success. Play some motivating music, listen to a motivational audio book, ready a daily devotional, meditate, take a walk and most importantly set your goals for the day. From there take at least 10-15 minutes to plan your day hour-by-hour. Be sure you plan time for your family as well as yourself. Then follow it. You will find after a week of doing so you will feel successful and your motivation for success will increase.
